going fast on skis.

German record 242.5 kph. Next goal: 250

In 2019, I set myself the goal of the German record of 242.420 km/h. The national record was set in Les Arcs, France, in 2006 by Adi Dünßer, who looks after our team, and has not yet been beaten by any German skier.

On 22 March 2023 I got my shot at the World championships in Vars and improved the German record by 0,08 kph to 242,5 kph. The goal for 2024 is already set: First German who skis faster than 250 kph.

How it all began.

I first came into contact with the sport of speed skiing during a family skiing holiday in Verbier, Switzerland. After a speed ski race, my father and I went onto the still prepared slope with our normal skis and a GPS measuring device and tried ourselves from halfway. Just over 120 kph was my speed and thus my first measured speed over 100 kph. My father could hardly stop thinking about how we could take part in such a race one day.

The first races.

…and it happened the way it had to. In 2012 my dad managed to get us a license for us to race for the German Ski Federation. Shortly after that we went to our first speed skiing race, which was in Austria. I was young enough to start for the junior’s category. First race, first podium - that’s how it went.

One year later I already took part at the World Championships 2013 in Vars on the world record track - podium again. This gave me the motivation and love for a long speed skiing journey. In the last race of the season 2013 in Verbier, Switzerland I have set a new national junior record with 180 kph. My dad also took part at this race in the Downhill category setting the national downhill record with 186 kph on his very last run on skis. He passed away the same year after a heart attack.

Junior World Champion 2015.

In my final year in the junior’s category I made the step onto the top of the podium at the World championships in Grandvalira, Andorra. Challenging snow conditions in spring made it hard to execute the race but it worked out.

Supreme discipline S1. German record 242,5 kph.

In 2018, I finally switched to the supreme discipline S1, in which you ski with a ski length of 2.40 metres, spoilers on the ski boots, an aerodynamically shaped helmet and a windproof racing suit.

After a tough start in this category, I went over 200 kph for the first time in 2019 at the World Championships in Vars. At the same competition, I was able to increase my personal record to 220.994 kph.

Cupra X Saas-Fee

At the beginning of the 2021 speed ski season, I had the opportunity to be a speed skier in a small commercial for Cupra and Saas-Fee. Those were the first professional speed ski shots for me.

I am very happy to be part of this video and hope that this extreme sport will get more attention and become more popular through this.
